The Hamilton Arts Council exists to strengthen the role of the arts and culture in the City of Hamilton by making the arts accessible and relevant to the entire community.

Artist in Residence

The Hamilton Arts Council offers a residency program, sponsored by The Cotton Factory, for two emerging artists to share a studio space for 3-months.

BIPOC hArt Music Series

The BIPOC hArt Music Series is a platform celebrating diverse representation in the performing arts and creative industries by showcasing emerging artists from across the Greater Hamilton Region and Six Nations of the Grand River..

Building Cultural Legacies

A digital storytelling platform that aims to build knowledge, spark creativity and deepen connection by engaging citizens from diverse communities and generations in the sharing of stories about the history of visual arts in Hamilton between 1950 and 2000.

Celebrate Resilience in the Arts

The stories will showcase ways in which artists in Hamilton and the surrounding region have found hope, strength and courage to pivot, adapt and create new ways to present.

European Artist Exchange

The EAE residency provides a mid-career level visual artist from Hamilton, Ontario, the opportunity to create new works in the inspiring artist studio provided by the Estonian Artists Association in Tallinn.

Hamilton Arts Week

A ten day festival (June 11-20), with an array of events (including: theatre, music, dance, literary, and visual arts) celebrated city-wide.

Hamilton Literary Awards

The Literary Awards recognizes published books of literary excellence, written by authors residing in Hamilton. Prizes are awarded in: Poetry, Non-fiction, Fiction and the Kerry Schooley Book Award, for the book that is the most evocative of Hamilton.
