SéminArts online series: Collecting Contemporary Art
ONLINE
185 Rue Sainte-Catherine O, Montréal, QC H2X 3X5, Canada

8.30PM
Through five sessions (online because of the pandemic), the participants have a chance to meet artists, gallerists, private collectors, corporate collectors and exhibition or museum curators. The sessions are conducted in an atmosphere conducive to discussion and the exchange of ideas. More specifically:
Artists agree to open up their work space, occasionally for the first time, to curious visitors to whom they describe their creative process and the conditions under which they pursue their careers.
Gallerists receive budding collectors, who are sometimes perplexed or questioning, with the utmost professionalism.
Curators of corporate collections guide the groups of participants through the art on display in their workplace and explain the impact of contemporary art on employees and the importance of private and public corporate collections for the local art market.
Generous collectors agree to open the doors of their modest apartments or stylish homes to show how works of contemporary art have defined their living environments.
An online series starting March 10
Due to the pandemic, the program has migrated to a fully online version (on zoom) in no way lacking the quality and richness of the past series, giving everyone outside of Montreal a chance to join in and participate!
A new series (in English) is set to start on March 10 and will be led by Montreal-based Curator Ji-Yoon Han.
The program costs $150, tax included, for all 5 sessions (15% off for MACarte holders).
People can register online on the MAC’s website.
