JOIN THE BOARD
The Volunteer Board of Directors for Hamilton Arts Council (HAC) invites applications to join us as long serving directors’ terms end, and as we continue to reflect the community we serve.
About Hamilton Arts Council (HAC):
Founded in 1969 and Incorporated in 1973, HAC is one of Ontario's longest serving arts councils. Our current programming includes the digital arts platform The Arty Crowd / Groupe Arti. This new website is a central hub connecting art lovers and artists of all genres across the Greater Hamilton Area (GHA). Board members are responsible for:

Monitoring the strategic direction and fiscal accountability of the organization;

Building the board’s reputation and moving the organization forward by demonstrating the principles of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion in all interactions;

Participating in monthly online board meetings of up to 90 minutes;

Participating on sub-committees as may be needed from time to time;
-
Demonstrating commitment to fundraising by assisting in the identification and solicitation of sponsorships and donations;

Attending HAC-hosted events, and acting as a vocal and positive ambassador and advocate of HAC’s mandate, vision and mission; and
-
Serving a minimum of one two-year term, to a maximum of three two-year terms.
Applications to join the board are being encouraged from those who are:

Living/working in the Greater Hamilton Area, including Six Nations of the Grand River;

Members of communities that are: Black, Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQIA+, Deaf, persons with disabilities, neurodivergent, Francophone and Francophile, and youth (under 30 years old);

Members of the arts community including artists from all genres), arts supporters, arts administrators, business entrepreneurs; and
-
Experienced in one of the following areas: marketing, fundraising, legal or finance; specifically, we require one position to be filled by a member with a financial background.
