Sweet Jake

Musician/Singer Songwriter

Sweet Jake appreciates honesty above all else and keeps these songs true to what drives him musically. His songwriting features a back-to-basics approach, saving the flashy arrangements while highlighting the unique progressions. His smoky voice sings honest, thought-provoking lyrics about love, career frustrations, knowing (or not) what you want in life, and that which is likely to resonate with all of us at times.
“Drivin” is the first official Sweet Jake release (Jan 2021). The plot weighs on a breakup forced by the move from the middle of nowhere to the big city. Produced superbly by Andrew Billone (Silvertone Hills), the song is “driven” by the John Mayer-esque chord changes played on Jake’s beloved Martin 000 guitar and features the melodic pedal-steel from Dan Gurman.
The songs combine Sweet Jake’s love for artists such as John Mayer, Ewan Currie, of course The Tragically Hip, and much, much more.
Sweet Jake is also a member of two Hamilton-based bands, playing guitar with folk-rock group Athanase and bass for alt-rockers In My Coma.
